Mid-size companies who manufacture equipment, machines & instruments have huge opportunities as well as risks, for the world in next 5-10 years. Their customers, who are large Enterprises, demand smarter equipment and intelligent machines – that can be monitored in real-time, from anywhere. And also can be run & maintained without downtime, with proactive intelligent alerts, ahead of time, informing about upcoming failure or unplanned service as per the usage & machine conditions.

It demands a data-driven, software-driven Product roadmap planning for the Hardware manufacturers – which is quite different from a pure hardware manufacturing approach.

We discussed how some of the small & mid-sized companies across the US & Europe have done this in their hardware-driven businesses, and what it took to be successful in becoming an intelligence-driven service provider, not just hardware.
