Many organizations continue to struggle with supply chain visibility and traceability, exacerbated when they must contend with internal data trapped in functional siloes, and a lack of transparency with partners. As a result, many organizations recognize the need to shift to collaborative business ecosystems but struggle with where to start / how to implement.
All of these challenges reiterate the need for supply chains to be more agile and resilient. When that happens, organizations can respond appropriately when disruptions occur, and they can better adapt to future business models that may emerge as a result. Our participants joined Infor and a select group of supply chain thought leaders to discuss what obstacles must be overcome to both navigate through short-term disruption and pursue longer-term supply chain transformation.

COVID-19 has essentially forced companies to accelerate their digitalization strategy, especially on the supply chain side.
How has COVID-19 affected your supply chain and what are the top 3 priorities you have implemented or intend to implement?
A global healthcare manufacturer was hit hard and early by the pandemic because of its business in China, particularly a factory in Wuhan. They were prepared to deal with it initially because of they went through this with SARS, but then when COVID-19 hit the U.S., they had a harder time getting product out.
The manufacturer said it had supply chain disruptions before COVID-19 because of U.S. tariffs that were placed in China by the U.S. government. Its suppliers were looking to relocate their manufacturing from China to Mexico and countries to southeast Asia, but it’s not as simple as it seems.
The manufacturer said they need to look at how to work with resilient customers who can help them bulk up their inventory levels and have available inventory closer to where they need it, which would reduce shipping time and costs.
