The request hitting your login page might be a customer, an authorized AI agent acting on their behalf, an agent running on stale or stolen permissions, or something pretending to be all three. A one-time check at authentication tells you nothing about what happens five clicks later, when the session shifts from browsing to buying to changing account details. The real work is continuous: verifying intent and establishing trust at the session level, in real time. Who is this agent, who sent it, what is it authorized to do, and is its behavior still consistent with that mandate? That has to be answered in the milliseconds between request and response, every session, every time. The companies that figure this out will set the terms for how agents transact on the open web. The ones that don’t will learn the hard way that “logged in” and “trusted” stopped meaning the same thing.
