Here’s what we discussed:

Companies today work in increasingly complex data landscapes, petabytes of data, new systems being added daily, and unfettered access across remote teams. Piecemeal, point-in-time data catalogs are no longer sufficient.

Meeting regulatory compliance and building effective data governance into your organization requires new approaches to data discovery and classification. Without complete visibility into all data repositories, the chance of missing something is high.

Companies are beginning to adopt technologies like automated data mapping to produce a real-time, unified, and organized view of all their data systems and the personal data within those systems. There are multiple options available; what should you be looking for as you evaluate them?

In this session, we discussed the many layers to data visibility: from discovering systems to scanning codebases, from organizing tables to classifying data categories, different approaches and strategies to unlocking real-time visibility, and the downstream implications for control over org-wide data usage, and overall governance efforts.
