Here’s what we discussed:

Network and learn with other tech and innovation leaders from financial services and insurance about how companies with legacy systems to modernize and optimize their cloud approach, no matter the chosen strategy: modernizing in place (hybrid), rehosting/replatforming or even replacing and rewriting the entire application.

The move to public cloud has been hitting the enterprise wall. 75% of existing enterprise workloads have yet to move to the cloud due to the huge obstacle of moving, connecting and managing applications. IT leaders are questionable about the public cloud enterprise value and the infrastructure cost efficiency, not to mention regulatory, compliance and security challenges.
In this session, we explored the modernisation roadblocks that can slow speed to market and how to avoid them. We also discussed the technology strategies banks and insurers are using to launch digital products faster and drive new cost-saving efficiencies in the process.

Here is what we learned:

David Bejar, Head of DevSecOps and Agile Practices, PT Asuransi Allianz Life Indonesia

• He joined the session because his company started its Cloud journey about two years ago and it is facing some of the financial industry’s challenges.
• Allianz in Indonesia has always been somewhat of a rebel in the region, and they have been allowed to be because they have always tried to stay ahead of the game. One part of success for Allianz includes reducing the carbon footprint and emissions. Another part involves resilience which, unlike other companies, Allianz has found in the Cloud.
• A shortage of talent is a hinderance.

Nupour Mukherjee, Managing Director, Global Head of Enterprise Data Technologies, Standard Chartered Bank

• She joined the session to hear ideas from the other participants. Her job includes putting data onto the Cloud, and the company is undergoing a movement from simply putting applications, data and infrastructure into the Cloud, to taking a thought-provoking look at what value the company is getting from the Cloud. The idea is that it needs to be on all the time with all the services. That means there are factors other than cost.
• What others have found to be setbacks have been blessings to her company. Now that they are looking at it as a value proposition, they know what to put in the Cloud and where to put things in the Cloud, and it helps keep them from over-engineering. When it comes to value, ease-of-use is an important part of the equation.

Our API software quickly reduces project backlog by automating and accelerating API creation, deployment, testing and management from core applications, mainframes, and databases. Together, business and IT teams can quickly, easily, and securely meet consumer, partner or employee demands for digital services without modernizing or replacing core systems, and without special programming skills or invasive changes to existing systems and architectures.
