The New Normal in Healthcare Security
Common Sense Virtual Roundtable:

The New Normal in Healthcare Security

September 29th, Successfully held

Presented by

CyberMDX

Here’s what we discussed:

With an average of 30,000 connected assets, the IT environment of a hospital is extremely complex. Managing such a dynamic environment presents operational and security challenges. With resources already stretched thin, hospitals must quickly address the dramatic rise in attempted cyber-attacks that has been occurring since the COVID-19 outbreak began.

In this roundtable, we discussed how to gain visibility into all of your organization’s connected devices, the potential threat from bad actors, and what steps you can take to ensure the safety of your patients and your healthcare workers.

Here is what we learned:

With an average of 30,000 connected assets, the IT environment of a hospital is extremely complex. Managing such a dynamic environment presents operational and security challenges.
With resources already stretched thin, hospitals must quickly address the dramatic rise in attempted cyberattacks that has been occurring since the COVID-19 outbreak began.
In this roundtable presented by CyberDMX, the topics were gaining visibility into all of your organization’s connected devices, the potential threat from bad actors, and what steps can be taken to ensure the safety of your patients and your healthcare workers.
Here are some of the key talking points from the panelists:

COVID-19 shutdowns needed a Herculean effort:

There was a mad dash to get non-essential hospital employees remote, as well as the ability to keep information secure. From converting secure files to getting workers on Google Team to initiating or reviving telehealth, security became a bolt-on and not upfront.

IoT security quickly became an afterthought:

Many medical centers are now in a recovery mode. Now that they’ve sustained operations in remote environment, it’s back to making in-house operations secure.
